Hongxian Feilong silver coin is a commemorative coin issued by Yuan Shikai during the period of the Republic of China. Hong Xian was the year when Yuan Shikai became emperor in 1916. In December 1915, Yuan Shikai announced the restoration of the imperial system, the establishment of the Chinese Empire, and the reform of the yuan Hongxian. On January 1, 1916, he ascended the throne and minted a small number of Hongxian Feilong commemorative coins, and then destroyed most of them. On March 22, 1916, the monarchy was abolished and the Republic of China was restored. Yuan Shikai declared himself Emperor for only 83 days. Due to the short period of the dynasty, there were not many silver coins of Hong Xian Feilong that year.

The Italian sculptor who worked in China in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China began to be known by everyone. George worked as the chief designer and engraver at Tianjin mint. During this period, he handled the design and molding of many machine-made coins. The coinage technology of Feilong silver coin reached the peak at that time. The yuan image on the front was lifelike and vivid. As George is an Italian who is good at carving Western dragons, the flying dragon on the back does not take the form of traditional Chinese dragon script, but the western two winged flying dragon. This coin is also the only foreign dragon used in China's official coinage, and it is also the most exquisite work in the carving process of China's only several imperial silver coins. The flying dragon silver coins have no face value and do not participate in circulation, so the casting quantity is rare, It was a commemorative coin used to reward princes and ministers when Yuan Shikai became emperor.
